Annual VGCC Cosmetology Competition Winners

Cosmetology students at Vance-Granville Community College engage in hair-styling competition each year in several categories. In the Evening Elegance category, the 2005 winner on April 4 was Latoya Keith, a student at the Franklin County Campus, who created “Bird of Paradise” on model Anitra Cooke. They are pictured in the center. At left is second place winner “French Elegance,” created by Kikia Thorpe of South Campus on model Carol Demers, and at right is “Tree of Life,” a creation by Lizzie Green of the Warren County Campus, modeled by her daughter Tanisha Green. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

One category in the annual Vance-Granville Community College Cosmetology hair-styling competition is styling on mannequins. Taking first place in the 2005 competition April 4 was Helena Smith, left, a main campus student, with her creation, “Graceful Rose.” At right is Chemia Richardson, a student at Franklin County Campus, who took second place with “Just Flip It.”

 

 

 

 

A third category in the 2005 Vance-Granville Community College Cosmetology competition on April 4 was Barbering. “Even Steven,” a cut by Cornelius Nile, left, on model Henry Adkins, took first place. At right are model Jamal Stinson and stylist Dustin Harris with their second-place style, “Even Caesar.” Both barbering winners are students at the main campus of VGCC.
