How Will I be Notified?
The Vance-Granville Community College’s emergency alert communications approach is based on redundancy, using multiple methods to reach members of the college community with information as quickly and accurately as is possible.
Campus telephone voice mail system
VGCC will issue emergency alerts using the college’s campus voice mail system.
Text Messaging
A campus alert message may also be sent to the mobile devices of students, faculty and staff who register their mobile numbers to receive alerts through the VGAlert System.
Media
Regular updates regarding campus closings and other emergency information will be provided to the news media. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to consult local media broadcasts particularly during inclement weather.
Web Alerts
Vance-Granville Community College will post alert messages on the VGCC college home page
Social Networks
The campus will post alert messages and updates to the college’s official Facebook pages. If you “like” the college’s pages, the alert will also be delivered to your personal Facebook page.
In the event of an emergency or closure, the campus will send an alert email message to all student, faculty and staff campus email accounts, and any other personal email accounts they register as part of their communications profile in the VGAlert System.
