Individual clinical sites have different requirements regarding immunizations. On the first day of class, your instructor will tell you what immunizations are needed and whether or not drug screen and background screening is needed. However, all students must have an annual flu shot (October-March 2020)

Depending upon the class you attend you may be asked to produce immunization verification for one or more of the following immunizations:

  • Two-Step TB Skin Test
  • Hepatitis B vaccination
  • Varicella (chicken pox)
  • Tdap
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)

If the Hepatitis B, Varicella, or MMR vaccinations are greater than 10 years old, students must provide proof of immunity via titers. All immunization verifications must be given to the instructor within 14 days of the first day of class to assure acceptance into the clinical setting.

Background Checks and Drug Screen

Drug Testing: On the first day of class your instructor will tell you if a drug screen is required for the clinical site you will be attending. He/She will give you all the information you need to complete the drug screen.

Background checks are required in all healthcare programs that have a clinical rotation. If a background check is required for the clinical site you will be attending, your instructor will give you all the information you need to complete the background check. Background checks must be done through USInfogroup. Background checks from other sources WILL NOT be accepted.

  • Go to: www.usinfogroup.com to complete your background check
  • The cost of a background check is $45.00

Complete the background check during the first week of class to assure that you will be accepted into the clinical rotation for your class.

All healthcare program students are approved by the clinical sites. The clinical site bases student acceptance or denial on background check information.

Refund Policy

A refund must be requested in writing by the student and sent to the instructor and to allenj@vgcc.edu. Include, in your email, your name, full address, and the class being dropped.

A refund will be issued as described by the policy below:

  • A 100% refund of the registration fee shall be made if the student requests a refund and officially withdraws before the first day of class.
  • A 100% refund shall be made if the class is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment.
  • A 75% refund of the registration fee shall be made if the student requests a refund and officially withdraws from the class on or before the official 10% point of a class.

If a refund is not requested and approved as described above, the student will not be entitled to a refund. Approved refunds will be issued in the form of a check and mailed by the VGCC business office. You should allow 4-6 weeks for processing of the refund.
