Nurse Aide I Course Description:
This course is designed to prepare individuals to provide personal care and perform basic nursing skills in a health care setting.

Topics include: the aging process, patients’ rights, nutrition, elimination, safe environment, restorative services, personal and special care, body structure and function, common disease/disorders, communication and documentation, death and dying, and roles of nurse aides and health team members. The course includes class, laboratory and clinical learning experiences. Students are prepared to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) Examination.

*CPR for Healthcare Providers is given during this class.

Nurse Aide II Course Description
This course prepares CNA’s to perform at a more complex skill level when attending to patients or residents regardless of the setting. A skill/competency evaluation is required for documenting student competency. This course includes class, laboratory, and clinical learning experiences. The graduate is eligible to apply for listing on the NC Board of Nursing Nurse Aide II Registry.

Phlebotomy Course Description:
This course provides theory and clinical experiences needed for the proper collection of blood and other specimens used for diagnostic testing. Students are prepared to safely perform procedures necessary for specimen collections on patients in various health care settings Emphasis is placed on ethics, legalities, medical terminology, safety and universal precautions, health care delivery systems, patient relations, anatomy and physiology, and specimen collections. Students are eligible take the national certification exam for phlebotomy technicians.

Medication Aide Course Description
This course prepares students to take the North Carolina Board of Nursing Medication Aide Certification Exam. The course will cover the six rights of medication administration for non-licensed personnel: medication administration via oral, topical and installation routes; medical asepsis; hand hygiene; medical terminology; and legal implications. Upon completion the students are eligible to take the Medication Aide Certification Exam through the North Carolina Board of Nursing.

Nurse Aide I Refresher
This course prepares students to provide personal care and perform basic nursing skills for the elderly and other adults. Emphasis is placed on reviewing basic nursing skills, personal care skills, recognition of mental health and social service needs, care of the cognitively impaired residents, basic restorative services and resident rights. This class has a large laboratory component. Students are prepared to retake the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) Examination.

Nurse Aide II Refresher
This course prepares the student for renewal of NA ll certification. This course utilizes the Nurse Aide II skills competency polices and skills training modules. Topics include: role of the NAII, oxygen therapy, sterile technique, wound care, suctioning, tracheostomy care, peripheral IV fluids, urinary catheterization, G-Tube feeding, and elimination. Student will complete coursework and quizzes online and will then complete a required lab skill/competency evaluation, which is required for documenting student competency. The graduate is eligible to renew their NA ll listing with the North Carolina Board of Nursing Nurse Aide ll Registry, with no further testing required.
