Human Resources Development Opens Doors to Health Care Education

ance-Granville Community College’s Human Resources Development (HRD) Department will offer a three-week class to assist students in preparing for entry into Health care programs at VGCC.

Beginning Oct. 10, the class will be held in Building 7 of the college’s Main Campus from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday.

“If you are interested in a career in a medical field, this class will help to give you direction,” said Kyle Burwell, HRD coordinator for VGCC.

HRD classes are designed to help the unemployed and the underemployed with career planning, including job-seeking and job-keeping skills.

The subject matter for this course will include information and training in areas such as self assessment and career assessments, interviewing skills, resumes, job applications, study skills, stress management, Health Care educational opportunities at VGCC and employment opportunities in the Health Care field.

HRD classes are free to unemployed, underemployed and dislocated workers, but Burwell noted that space in the class will be limited. Interested persons should contact Joyce Thorpe at (252) 738-3443 to determine if they qualify for free tuition and for more information on this training.
