ALLIED HEALTH PROGRAMS - HOBET
Students are admitted to Allied Health Programs in accordance with policies set
forth by Vance-Granville Community College. Each applicant is required to meet
the minimum admission requirements as set by the college. Meeting minimum
requirements does not guarantee admission into our Allied Health Programs, only
an opportunity for consideration. Students must be granted permission by their
Pre-Health Advisor in order to take the HOBET entrance tests.
WHAT IS THE HOBET
TEST?
The HOBET (Health Occupations Basic Entrance Test) is an
entrance test given to prospective Medical Assisting and Radiography students.
It provides an objective measurement of your mathematics skills, reading
comprehension, and written expression skills which are essential for success in
your chosen program. The HOBET consists of (6) seven individual tests. Click on
the link for a description of each test.

WHAT IF I EXPERIENCE TEST
ANXIETY?
Anxiety is common for most test takers. Stress can make the
body more alert, consequently improving your performance. For some individuals,
stress can be a hindrance and can result in a decrease in concentration. In
order to minimize stress while taking a test, please consider the following
things:
- Get plenty of rest the night before taking a test.
- Eat a well-balanced breakfast or lunch.
- Arrive 10-15 minutes prior to testing in order to collect your thoughts.
- Don't drink too much caffeine. Caffeine can increase your excitability.
- Think positive! Do not begin testing with negative thoughts. You will do
well.
- Relax!
