Student Activities
TITLE X: CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS
These are the steps that a new club or organization must follow in order to be officially sanctioned as a Vance-Granville Community College campus organization and therefore eligible for funding:
SECTION 1:
Any club or organization that wishes to become officially sanctioned by the Student Government Association shall adhere to the following guidelines:
CLAUSE 1:
Membership shall be open to all students.
CLAUSE 2:
A petition for Student Government Association sponsorship will be submitted in
writing to the Vice President of Student Affairs with a copy to the Student
Government Association President. Petitions shall include the following:
ARTICLE 1:
A statement of purpose along with a proposed constitution and bylaws,
and notice of any affiliation with any other organization.
ARTICLE 2:
A list of current or proposed officers.
ARTICLE 3:
A list of at least ten (10) current students that are willing to be active members.
ARTICLE 4:
Name of a faculty or staff member who will serve as an advisor to the
organization and who is willing to regularly meet with this group.
ARTICLE 5:
Statement of proposed dues or other funding proposals.
CLAUSE 3:
After a petition has been filed with the SGA, the Advisor and/or representatives of
the proposed organization will be scheduled to appear before the full Senate to
review required documents and answer any questions necessary in order to
communicate a clear understanding of the proposed organization. After meeting
with the Advisor and/or representatives of the proposed organization, the Senate
shall make an official recommendation concerning the approval of the proposed
organization. A simple majority vote of all Senators present is needed in order to
approve the new organization.
CLAUSE 4:
Appeal of any decision made by the full Senate shall be to the Vice President of Student Affairs with final appeal being with the President of Vance-Granville Community College.
CLAUSE 5:
Any officially sanctioned organization shall submit a written report each semester of their activities to the Secretary of the Student Government Association. These reports shall be due October and March. The sanctioned organization shall appoint one of its members to serve as an ambassador and liaison to the Student Government Association
CLAUSE 6:
Failure to comply with any section of TITLE X will result in that organization not being sanctioned by the Vance-Granville Community College Student Government Association.
CLAUSE 7:
An organization or club must be sanctioned to be considered for any request for
funds. Upon completion of the above steps, the Student Government Association
will allocate $50 as start-up funds to a club or organization.
