High School students explore health and science at VGCC

A group of 21 high school students from across the region attended the 2014 Mini-Medical School, organized by the Wake Area Health Education Center (AHEC) in partnership with Vance-Granville Community College. The camp was held in June at VGCC’s South Campus, located between Butner and Creedmoor.

 

This was the college’s first time hosting a Mini-Medical School, which is an intensive, week-long day camp that uses computational science (computer simulation) and hands-on activities to study key aspects of medicine. Topics include anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, cardiology, epidemiology, medical genetics and genomics. The course was taught by Becky Brady, a registered nurse and chemical engineer.

Longest-serving Trustee Frazier reappointed to VGCC board

VGCC and Chamberlain College of Nursing establish transfer agreement

Vance-Granville Community College and Chamberlain College of Nursing recently formed a partnership that will help graduates of VGCC’s Associate Degree Nursing program transition to complete a bachelor’s degree in Nursing through distance education. The VGCC Board of Trustees officially approved the agreement with Chamberlain at its July 21 meeting.

VGCC South Campus hosts Tax Seminar for Nonprofits

The Vance-Granville Community College Small Business Center, in partnership with the North Carolina Department of Revenue, will present a free seminar about sales tax refunds for nonprofit organizations on Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 2 until 4 p.m. at the college’s South Campus (1547 South Campus Drive, Creedmoor).
