  2. Open My Computer and then find and open the CD-ROM in your CD drive.

  4. The software will check your computer to ensure the application will run. If it passes the test, you should then click on the Continue button that appears.
  5. Select an installation type (Local/Hard Drive) and click on Install.
  6. When the installer setup finishes, click Next.

  8. Chose installation location. Most users will take the default and just click Next.
  9. While you are still in the Internet Explorer browser but before trying to run GEDONLINE, set up your Internet Explorer (Click Here for Setup Process) if not already completed.
  10. If not already open, open your internet connection.
  11. Start the program by selecting Start, Programs, MHC Interactive, GED Online, and finally GEDONLINE. (An alternative method, which is required by some computers, is to go to Internet Explorer and enter www.mhcgedonline.com.)
  12. When prompted, enter your ID and Password and click Submit.
  13. The "Welcome" screen offers several options. Click on Launch GED and wait for your records to be downloaded.
  14. When the Subject Menu screen appears, select the subject area in which you wish to work.
(You may want to explore some of the menu bar option to see what is available to you.)
  15. When you are ready to exit the program, select Quit, confirm your selection, and then wait until your data is uploaded to the GED Online Internet site.

Caution for dial-up users: Disable "Call Waiting," if in use on your telephone system, to prevent interruption of your connection to the Internet. Also, be aware that some telephone systems will drop your connection to the Internet for extended periods of inactivity. This will require reconnection before you leave the GED Online application in order to properly save the results of your work.

See you online!
