Adult High School Diploma (AHSD) Program

Distance learning may provide a more convenient means to obtain your high school diploma, but it does NOT make it an easier task!

Adult High School Diploma Program Courses

Our Program currently requires successful completion of at least 21 credits including 4 credits in English, 3 credits in Mathematics, 3 credits in Science, 3 credits in Social Studies, 1 credit in Health/PE, and the remainder in elective credits. A student may have more core credits than required, and these extras will count toward meeting the overall 21 credit requirement. Due to future changes in North Carolina requirements, the required number of credits in any category or in the overall program may change at any time.

All courses may have final exams required for course completion. However, courses without final exams will have integral tests included with the course work and may have comprehensive exams at the end of the course. Courses with separate exams will have those exams administered by appointment only at the one of our 4 campuses. The final grade in each of the courses will be based on weighted grades on each test or exam given. Written assignments are factored in after test grades are computed. Breakdown is as follows:

Grading Scale for Courses:
A = 100 - 93 ; B = 92 - 85 ; C = 84 - 77 ; D = 76 - 70 ; F = any grade below 70%

Before a student will be allowed to sit for a separate final exam, the average grade for all other tests must be at least 80%, and the student must have been online and in lessons and tests for a minimum of 12 hours.

Courses without Witten Assignments

Final Grade Based on Average of All Tests

Courses with Witten Assignments

After test grade is computed, the test total is reduced to 75% of total grade, and the written assignments are worth 25% of total grade
