Prepare and provide to your instructor:
  1. Submit one of the papers defined below:.

    Unless specified otherwise, project papers shall be written using the MLA format, use a minimum of 3 referenced sources of information, and be at least 500 words in length but of sufficient length to provide the reader with a clear understanding of the point or points being made. Generally, no maximum length will be specified.

    Project Paper #1 - Some say that the original founders of the United States utilized Judo-Christian or Biblical principles when preparing the founding governmental documents, such as the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Others say that the founders used good common sense and wanted to ensure that they did not repeat the same mistakes made by the immigrants' home countries, such as England , in setting up the laws, organization, and government of the original 13 colonies. Write a paper on the founding of the United States stating your position and documenting evidence that you have found supporting your position.
    Project Paper #2 - Some believe that the Civil War (or War Between the States) was started over slavery. Others claim that the cause was disagreement over states rights. Write a paper on the primary cause of the war stating your position and documenting evidence that you have found supporting your position.
    Project Paper #3 - The Battle of Gettysburg is considered by most historians to be the turning point in the Civil War. Due to only a few key strategic errors made by the Confederate forces, the Union forces were victorious over the Confederate forces. Had those mistakes not been made, it is very possible that the Confederate States would have won the war. How would this have changed the "face" of the United States ? Write a paper stating your position on what would be difference, if anything, in the structure and direction of the United States as a nation. Use documented evidence you have identified, if any, which supports your position on this subject.
    Project Paper #4 - The 1960's were pivotal in the direction the United States has taken over the last 35 years. Identify at least 4 changes that were initiated during the 1960 through 1969 time period and describe the impact it has had on present day life in the United States . Write a paper stating your position on the how these 4 changes have made life better or worse in this country and documenting evidence that you have found supporting your position.
    Project Paper #5 - You may, with your instructor's permission, define another topic related to this course for your paper's subject. Use the same structure as established for the other papers identified above
