  1. Submit one of the papers defined below:
Unless specified otherwise, project papers shall be written using the MLA format, use a minimum of 3 referenced sources of information, and be at least 500 words in length but of sufficient length to provide the reader with a clear understanding of the point or points being made. Generally, no maximum length will be specified.
Project Paper #1 - The United States government entities (state and federal) run on funds it receives from corporate, small business, and individual tax payers. Our economy depends on the transfer of money from government to business, business to business, business to individuals, individuals to business, tax payers to government, and so forth. Write a paper to identity at least 3 situations in recent years that this process has been interrupted and explain what were the impacts on the overall economy of the United States or on individuals or both. Document your evidence supporting your position.
Project Paper #2 - The Social Security System was originally established as a temporary measure to help individuals as they tried to prepare for retirement. However, it was never intended to be the sole source of funds for retired individuals. Write a paper to explain what has happened to that original intent and why. Include in your paper a discussion of what has happened to all the funds that had been placed into the system by taxpayers. Document your evidence supporting your position.
Project Paper #3 - While the United States is still one of the richest nations in the world, the welfare system has grown uncontrolled for more than 50 years. Write a paper discussing why this is the case and why nothing has been done to effectively change this growth. Include a discussion of why certain groups find it politically advantageous and enjoy seeing an ever increasingly large group of people on welfare and, at the same time, want to penalize those that are able to get ahead, start businesses, and otherwise maintain a good standard of living. Document your evidence supporting your position.
Project Paper #4 - You may, with your instructor's permission, define another topic related to this course for your paper's subject. Use the same structure as established for the other papers identified above.
