(Government Papers)
Project Paper #1 - The United States Government was established by the US Constitution to contain 3 branches which were the Executive Branch, the Legislative Branch, and the Judicial Branch. Write a paper explaining the role of each branch as they were originally designed, how each actually functions today, and how the corruption of the intended role of each branch has impacted government operations. Document your evidence supporting your position.
Project Paper #2 - The founding fathers of the United States argued over how states were to be represented within the Legislative Branch. Some said that it should be based on population of the states and some said it should be equal for each state. The end result was a compromise. Write a paper explaining what that compromise was and how it affects the legislative and political processes today. Document your evidence supporting your position.
Project Paper #3 - It is in the news today, but it has been a problem for years. Write a paper describing the process for identifying potential Supreme Court and other Federal judges and getting these persons into positions "on the bench." Also explain the related problems being encountered by current and previous administrations, the impact on legislation, and impact on constitutional interpretation. If you could change the process, how would you do it differently? Document your evidence supporting the changes you would propose.
Project Paper #4 - You may, with your instructor's permission, define another topic related to this course for your paper's subject. Use the same structure as established for the other papers identified above.
