The Adult High School Diploma program is a competency-based program that is available for adults 18 years or older and for certain other persons who have by necessities of life taken on various adult responsibilities and who wish to pursue the completion of the requirements for attainment of their high school diploma. This program requires an 85 percent mastery level for each module, unit, and exam administered.
This program is neither intended nor encouraged as a replacement for traditional high school programs which are otherwise available for potential students.
The Adult High School Diploma program is designed to meet the
North Carolina Course of Study Graduation Requirements. Prior to graduation, our students will be required to have a total 21 credits including a minimum of 14 core credits. These core credits consist of 4 credits in English, 3 credits in Mathematics (one must be Algebra I), 3 credits in Science, 3 credits in Social Studies, and 1 credit in Health/PE. This total will be calculated on the basis of what credits were previously obtained in an accredited public or private high school or in a North Carolina registered home school plus those credits obtained as a part of one of our Adult High School programs.
In addition to credit requirements, students will be required, prior to graduation, to meet Competency Testing standards in effect when the student should have completed high school and demonstrate high school proficiency in Reading, Math, and Language Skills as measured through means of standardized testing

An instructor/counselor will work with the students desiring enrollment in our program regarding the courses required for graduation. The instructor will assess previously acquired credits and work with the student to establish an appropriate credit recovery program. Students will have significant flexibility in choosing the electives that they wish to take. Final examinations to assess mastery in required subjects are to be taken in person at one of our 4 campuses on a schedule agreed to by the student and the instructor.
Students desiring enrollment in one of our Literacy Online programs but not reading at a 9th grade level can expect to be assigned lessons designed to improve reading skills. The objective is to first raise those reading skills to a 9th grade or better level. A similar program will also be available to provide improvement in basic math skills.
