The high school must make the decision as to whether or not it wishes to participate and provide the opportunity to its students for Learn and Earn courses. Each high school must register and be listed on the SDPI website as a participating school before the college can enroll students in Learn and Earn courses.
Here are factors to consider:
- The high school must provide Learn and Earn students with an adult facilitator and a computer lab where the student has access to the Internet during the school day.
- The high school will need high-speed Internet connectivity
- Computers can have either Windows or Mac based operating system.
- The computers will need Flash and QuickTime plug-ins as well as Real Audio player and Acrobat reader.
- Computers should have a screen resolution of 1024x768 or higher.
- Computers should have an audio card and headphones.
- The high school must provide textbooks to Learn and Earn students. A reimbursement program for high schools is available through the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. This web link has information. http://www.dpi.state.nc.us/learnandearnonline/
