Cooperative Education, or "Co-op", is an academic program that combines
classroom studies with on-the-job, career-related work experience. By
participating in Co-op, a student can:
- Earn college credit toward graduation
- Gain work experience in their field of study
- Clarify career goals before graduation
- Sharpen skills
- Develop professional work habits
- Build self-confidence
- Earn money to help defray college expenses
- Make connections for permanent employment
To participate,
a VGCC student must be enrolled in a Co-op approved program, have been enrolled
at least one term (12 semester hours), maintain a 2.0 GPA, be enrolled in at
least one other curriculum course other than Co-op, and have not fulfilled the
major elective requirements.
