Medical Office Administration
| The Medical Office Administration curriculum prepares individuals for employment in medical and other health-care related offices. Course work will include medical terminology; information systems; office management; medical coding, billing and insurance; legal and ethical issues; and formatting and word processing. Students will learn administrative and support functions and develop skills applicable in medical environments. The Medical Office Administration program is taught at Vance-Granville's Main Campus and Franklin County Campus (near Louisburg). A limited number of classes are also offered at the college's South Campus (between Butner and Creedmoor). |

| Employment opportunities are available in medical and dental offices, hospitals, insurance companies, laboratories, medical supply companies, and other health-care related organizations. The job outlook is average for medical secretaries and above-average for medical transcriptionists (2006-2007 Career Choice in North Carolina newsletter, published by the North Carolina Occupational Information Coordinating Committee. Entry level annual salaries range from $19,000 to $23,000. With experience, salaries rise to between $29,000 and $32,000. |
