Global Logisitics Degree
The Global Logistics curriculum will integrate written course materials, internet-based instruction and laboratory simulation. It will teach participants the advanced technical skills needed to ship, track and receive goods around the world. "This program will serve both entry-level students to the logistics field, and also people currently employed in the fields that need to upgrade their skills or gain new skills. How long does it take?

Including all required non-logistics courses (e.g. English, economics, other electives), it will take 2 years of full-time coursework or longer if going part-time. College credits from other community colleges and accredited 4-year schools are usually accepted and you can place out of some courses. If you have an industry certification such as CPIM or CSCP you may qualify for special credit.

Can I get my degree online or in the evening?

There are several curriculum courses and elective courses available at night and online through VGCC. The list changes each semester, so you'll have to look at the current course schedules to get the most up-to-date information.

What's required to enter the program?

The admissions office has more detailed information, but the main requirement is a high-school diploma.

What will I learn?

In the program you will learn how companies manage order fulfillment, purchase raw materials, manage warehouses, and arrange domestic and international transportation services. You will also learn about freight forwarders, shippers, supply chain collaboration, importing, exporting, third party logistics, and logistics technology.

What can I do with the degree?

My recent graduates include individuals employed at a variety of levels to include: Material Planner, Scheduler, Logistics Manager, Freight Coordinator, Inventory Clerk, and Receiving Supervisor while others have pursued a B.S. in Logistics at East Carolina University or other 4-year schools.
