Employment opportunities exist in a variety of local, state, and federal law enforcement, corrections, and security fields. Examples include police officer, deputy sheriff, county detention officer, state trooper, intensive probation/parole surveillance officer, correctional officer and loss prevention specialist. Students wishing to enter the Criminal Justice Technology Program are cautioned that criminal justice agencies will conduct criminal background checks of potential employees prior to employment. Many criminal justice agencies will not hire applicants who have convictions for offenses other than minor traffic violations.
