Admission Requirements
You will be required to obtain a sponsorship from a law enforcement agency prior to being allowed to enroll
. This can take days or weeks to obtain, but is not generally a problem if you have not been charged with a felony. You must provide VGCC with a certified copy of your criminal record from every jurisdiction that you have resided in since you turned age 16. You must also have a medical exam completed by a State Licensed Medical Doctor allowing you to participate in the Basic Law Enforcement Training program.

- Be a United States Citizen
- Demonstrate a 10th-grade reading comprehension level on the placement test
- Be 20 years of age upon completion of training
- Not have been convicted of a felony or serious misdemeanor
- Possess a valid North Carolina Driver's license with a good driving record
- Possess a high school diploma or GED
- Pass pre-Police Officer Physical Abilities Test in 10 minutes or less
- Pass post-Police Officer Physical Abilities Test in 7 minutes, 20 seconds or less
