With an increasing number of cars and trucks on the road, employment in the field is expected to grow by approximately 10-20% through 2010. Technicians with good fundamental knowledge, problem-solving and diagnostic skills, and whose training has included electronic skills should have the best opportunities. Technicians who can operate electronic analyzers and troubleshooting machines will be in particularly high demand. The automotive technician career offers a variety of excellent opportunities for positions with good salaries. Starting salaries vary, but salaries increase as skills are further developed. Successful Master Diagnostic Technicians can earn over $65,000 per year
