Vance-Granville Community College Franklin Campus Child Care Center is a non-profit
organization licensed by the State of North Carolina. We are a
FIVE STAR licensed
center which we have lower child-staff ratios and more space per child. We meet high standards
for staff education, program standards, and compliance history with child care regulations.
Group sizes are as follows:
- 2-3 Year Olds: 9 children
- 4-5 Year Olds: 13 children
(When VGCC Student Interns/Assistants are available, the ratios will increase to two adults.)
Enrollment in the Center is available to children between the ages of two and five years who
seem to be able to function in a normal classroom environment. In compliance with the Civil
Rights Act of 1964, no child shall be denied enrollment in the Center or treated in a
discriminatory manner while enrolled because of race, color, religion, or national origin.
The Child Care Center serves children ages two to five years who function in a normal
classroom environment. A child will not be denied enrollment in the Center due to disabilities
provided our program is able to adequately meet his/her needs within the confines of normal
Center operation.
Enrollment in the Child Care Center is determined by priority. Spaces in the Center are
allocated in the following order:
- 1st Priority: Children of VGCC Students
- 2nd Priority: Children of VGCC Employees
- 3rd Priority: Communities served by VGCC
The Center was designed to provide the College's Early Childhood Students with experience
interacting with preschool age children through an on-site facility.
Children may be enrolled on a part-time or a full-time basis, although full-time slots are
more available. Full-time status simply means a child attends the Center Monday through Friday,
regardless of the length of day. Some Part-time slots are available on a limited basis.
Part-time status refers to attendance either two or three days per week (Mon-Wed-Fri or
Tues-Thurs) and not necessarily on a half day basis.
