MAIN CAMPUS: VGCC's Main Campus is located on Poplar Creek Road in VANCE COUNTY (about midway between Henderson and Oxford) at the intersection with Interstate 85 (Exit 209). After exiting the interstate, proceed west on Poplar Creek Road less than one-quarter mile to either of the two community college entrances on the right. Following are travel directions to VGCC's Main Campus from various locations in the area.

 

From Raleigh: Take U.S. 1 North to Henderson. Remain on U.S. 1 Bypass to N. C. 39 Exit. Turn left at exit on Andrews Avenue (N. C. 39). Continue north on Andrews Avenue to I-85, take I-85 South to Exit 209. Vance-Granville Community College is immediately to right at Exit 209, clearly visible from I-85.

TO AVOID CONSTRUCTION ON I-85:
OPTION 1: Take U.S. 1 North to Henderson. Exit right onto U.S. 1 Business North at the Henderson exit (turn left after exiting to stay on U.S. 1 Business North/Raleigh Road). Drive about 6 miles. Turn left onto Dabney Drive (about 2 blocks). Turn left onto U.S. 158 Business (Oxford Road). Drive almost 5 miles. Turn right onto Poplar Creek Road. The campus will be on your right.

OPTION 2 (includes I-85): From I-40 West, take exit 281 for Miami Boulevard. Keep right at the fork, follow signs for U.S. 70 and merge onto S. Miami Boulevard. Turn left at U.S. 70. Continue on S. Miami Boulevard/U.S. 70 Bypass West. Take the exit onto I-85 North toward Henderson. Take exit 206 onto U.S. 158 East. When the road forks (about 1.6 miles), take 158 Bypass (left). Turn right onto Poplar Creek Road. The campus will be on your left.

 

From Durham: Take I-85 North to Exit 209. Turn right at top of ramp, cross bridge over I-85 and Vance-Granville Community College is immediately on right.

TO AVOID CONSTRUCTION ON I-85:
OPTION 1: Take Highway 98 toward Wake Forest. Exit right on the N. C. Highway 50 North ramp and merge onto N. C. 50 (Creedmoor Road). Turn left at the intersection of Highway 50 and Highway 56, and almost immediately turn right onto U.S. Highway 15, and drive almost 15 miles. Turn right onto U.S. 158 (Hillsboro Street). Take 158 Business (slight right) when the road splits. Turn left onto Poplar Creek Road.

OPTION 2: (includes I-85): Take I-85 North to Exit 206. Take exit 206 onto U.S. 158 East. When the road forks (about 1.6 miles), take 158 Bypass (left). Turn right onto Poplar Creek Road. The campus will be on your left.

 

From Richmond, Va.: Take I-85 South to Exit 209, about 20 miles south of Virginia-North Carolina line. Vance-Granville Community College is immediately to right at Exit 209, clearly visible from I-85.

TO AVOID CONSTRUCTION ON I-85:
Take I-95 South across the Virginia-North Carolina line. Take exit 173 and turn right onto U.S. 158 West (Julian R. Allsbrook Highway). In Warrenton, turn left onto U.S. 401 (S. Main Street), and almost immediately turn right onto West Franklin Road, which will become Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. and then Warrenton Road. In Henderson, turn left onto Garnett Street(U.S. 158/U.S. 1 Business). After 3 miles, turn left onto Dabney Drive and almost immediately turn right onto U.S. 158 Business (Oxford Road). Turn right onto Poplar Creek Road.

 

From Louisburg: Take N. c. 39 North through Henderson to I-85. Take I-85 South to Exit 209. Vance-Granville Community College is immediately to right at Exit 209, clearly visible from I-85.

TO AVOID CONSTRUCTION ON I-85:
Take N. c. 39 North to Henderson, where it becomes Andrews Avenue. Turn left onto Garnett Street (U.S. 158 Business/U.S. 1 Business). Turn left onto Dabney Drive and almost immediately turn right onto U.S. 158 Business (Oxford Road). Drive almost 5 miles. Turn right onto Poplar Creek Road.

 

From Roxboro: Take U.S. 158 East and follow loop around Oxford. Take left onto I-85 North. Take I-85 North to Exit 209. Turn right at top of ramp, cross bridge over I-85 and Vance-Granville Community College is immediately on right.

TO AVOID CONSTRUCTION ON I-85:
Take U.S. 158 East and follow loop around Oxford. Veer to the left to stay on U.S. 158 Bypass. About halfway between Oxford and Henderson, turn right on Poplar Creek Road (College Station convenience store on left) at Vance-Granville Community College sign. College is 200 yards ahead on left.

 

From Creedmoor: Take I-85 North to Exit 209. Turn right at top of ramp, cross bridge over I-85 and Vance-Granville Community College is immediately on right.

TO AVOID CONSTRUCTION ON I-85:
OPTION 1: Take U.S. Highway 15 north (toward Oxford). Turn right onto U.S. 158 (Hillsboro Street). Take 158 Business (slight right) when the road splits. Turn left onto Poplar Creek Road.

OPTION 2 (includes I-85): Take I-85 North to Exit 206. Take exit 206 onto U.S. 158 East. When the road forks (about 1.6 miles), take 158 Bypass (left). Turn right onto Poplar Creek Road. The campus will be on your left.

 

From Warrenton: Take U.S. 158 West to I-85. Take I-85 South to Exit 209. Vance-Granville Community College is immediately to right at Exit 209, clearly visible from I-85.

TO AVOID CONSTRUCTION ON I-85:
From U.S. 401 (S. Main Street) in Warrenton, turn right onto West Franklin Road, which will become Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. and then Warrenton Road. In Henderson, turn left onto Garnett Street (U.S. 158/U.S. 1 Business). After 3 miles, turn left onto Dabney Drive and almost immediately turn right onto U.S. 158 Business (Oxford Road).
